It was June 13, 1983. Captain Mario D'Aleo, Giuseppe Bommarito and Carabiniere Pietro Morici find death in the mafia ambush. Those were the years in which I had recently resumed my work in the factory founded in 1972; For about two years I was forced to interrupt my work due to a serious illness. Today, appointed by the General of the Carabinieri Rosario Castello commander of the Sicilian legion, it is an honour for me to be able to make a contribution to these men who, despite knowing the risks they were taking, did not hesitate and faced the dangers. We owe it to them if today we live in a better world and I am convinced that through art we can communicate to the new generations and to the future to the memory not to forget that we must cultivate the memory of these soldiers who contributed to the liberation of Palermo and Sicily. These heroes I depicted them in high relief set on lava stone of Etna, for its resistance over the centuries, the color of the Carabinieri is Lampedusa green, color of hope for us and for the new generations, behind them the sunset, in memory of that tragic event never sets. The panel is installed at the Monreale Carabinieri barracks.
